To VLOG or not to VLOG?
That is the question I have been asking myself for the last year. I used to post Vlogs when my son was young and we had a lot of fun doing it.
Editing time is more the issue these days rather the lack of equipment. The challenge of putting out interesting content or unique content is more difficult these days. I don’t want to do “What’s in my Camera bag” videos and drone review bits. I do a lot of location shoots and street shooting these days and have opportunities to do my own thing and I meet a lot of people running around taking pics no one else would take. It makes for constant interesting questions from the people I meet and would likely make good content.
The editing time it takes to put out decent content or find a style I like my be more time consuming than I would like it to be. Though it will likely be rewarding nonetheless. I guess all that practice talking to myself will come in handy if I do this. There are a lot of great Vloggers that I watch all the time but, I really would want to have my own style rather than copy others. I think that personality of the host is more meaningful than how high quality the video taken though, I do think that editing is as much of the presentation as the person Vlogging.
Regardless, I think that popping out a video once a week would be the least one should upload and to do it consistently. I have little interest in making a living from YouTube but just sharing the experience of creating that is the most appealing to me. Making content that clients can see my work also seems like a good marketing strategy as well. I am not a type A personality so keeping energy up in video seems like it might be tougher for me that for other Vloggers I see online. A challenge for sure for most all YouTubers I would imagine.
