A low light shot of the Arizona night life near Pheonix. All of the landscape here is dotted with accents such as this. I will be posting low-light cactus as well in the coming days. Some Macro, some not. It was interesting to test the low light capabilities of the Canon EOS R with such detailed subjects […]
This Arizona winter mountain scene of Humphrey’s Peak, taken on my recent trip to California. Time did not allow for a visit to the peak, unfortunately. This image was captured on the drive back to OKC. I rarely set up for random shots like this unless I am traveling to a specific location. but this […]
This fishing boat rigging from Seadrift Tx. was taken last year on the Texas coast. Fishing boat rigging and boats in general are a favorite subject of ours whenever we get the chance to shoot nautical equipment. Something about the sea is compelling to us in ways that our other subjects can not be. We […]
We happened upon this brown pelican in Seadrift Tx. last year. He just sat there looking at our way as though he was deciding what to do with us. This was taken on a Canon T6 with the Canon 75-300 1.4: 5.6 kit lens on a very overcast day. The harbor was being refitted after […]
Running around in San Jon N.M., Maidar has Seen Better Days. I ran across this old military vehicle in a field exploring. I am not a huge fan of sun flares but, this gave me a chance to experiment a bit. Most of the sky is blown out, but I like the effect it has […]
I’ve always wanted to stop at goff’s way station. This is all that left of the tower. The sun rising behind it, adds an eerie glow to the scene. There is a mining museum there that looks like a great photo locale. I hope to visit again in the future.
This Old Gas Pump was another of my findings along Route 66. This service station, long forgotten, sits beside the old road. Wasting away in rust and disrepair. Waiting as it seems, for it’s repair or demise.
This is Needle Mountain Pass on the California/Arizona border. It was taken around 7 A.M. The mist from the valley is just burning off and the light fog reflects some of the sunrise to the east. Shot at 400mm with the EOS R and the Sigma 150-400 mm. The mid ground is approximately 2 miles […]
I found this cactus in the Arizona desert hanging out next to a boulder. Many of the rocks seemed ready to roll down the hill at any given moment. The precarious position of so many of the boulders perched above the old route 66 thoroughfare create an ominous site for travelers.
