An image I captured in Scottsdale today is a perfect metaphor for the self-fulfilling prophecy which is the human condition. (The artwork is not my own) Many of us go through life crippling ourselves, locked behind bars of our own making. Trapped in our own self conceived ideas and bonds. The way out, so close, and yet we turn our backs to it as if we hadn’t noticed it staring at us every time we turn around.
Contriving our very prison as we seek to escape the reality that we have purposely created. How sad is it that we rarely grow beyond the comfort our own self imposed cage, looking out to the world as it passes us by in our infirm condition. So alone together as it were, each cast into the pit of his own making. Sometimes we are our own worst adversary.
Jesus is at the door, and we have just to turn around and knock.
“Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.”
