I took a little time off today feeding the birds at Lake Hefner and made a great shot of a white Lake Hefner Seagull. With the sun towards the back, it allows the specular highlights to shine along its back and wings. This highlights wings and tail feathers in a way that a headshot will not. Shadows in the feathers make the tail feathers stand out as well. Birds in flight are generally tough to shoot at this magnification. Oddly, you can see through both its nostrils to the sky in the background. The focal length @ 5.0 had the head and back in focus, but neither wingtip.
